Just bought a fancy new 8 megapixel digital SLR? Think you’re pretty cool? Well try this one on for size. The company HAL9000 has just made available online an navigatable 8.6 gigapixel image of one of Gaudenzio Ferrari’s famous fresco paintings. This is pretty cool indeed. Basically a Google Earth equivalent of Vita di Cristo, where you can zoom in and make out every freckle and brush stroke. See it here.
