The Naturalist Ride – Save the Walrus

Today as I was riding along the Brisbane River I came across a large gaggle of semi-naked hippies gathering on the side of the bike path, painting environmental slogans on themselves, while surrounded by camera crews and policemen. I politely enquired what was going on. This was ‘The Naturalist Ride’, with the themes ‘save the walrus’ and ‘the human body is not offensive’. They were going to ride down the Brisbane river in their semi-naked, painted state to draw attention to environmental issues. So what did I do you ask? Well, there’s only one thing to do in a situation like this – take of your shirt and ride along with them. And quite entertaining it was too. As we rode down the river, countless camera crews filmed us, and we passed many police who were making sure that things didn’t ‘get out of hand’. They didn’t. Things couldn’t have possibly been tamer. I would post a picture, but I’m afraid I don’t have one. But, if you watch the Brisbane local news tonight I’m sure you’ll be blessed with footage of me passing on my bike while giving the peace sign. Save the walrus.
