This picture was taken at Bristol Airport, after departure passport control, and just before the entrance to the x-rays. It’s not very clear from this low-res mobile phone picture, but the perspex box there is for last minute disposal of prohibited items (notice the big pile of discarded drink bottles next to it). What you can’t see from the picture is that inside that box are half a dozen knives (ranging from steak knives to hunting knives), several razors, and a hammer. That’s right – a hammer. Someone went all the way through passport control, and was just about to go through the x-rays, when it occurred to them that in fact a hammer and a hunting knife are not appropriate for carry-on luggage. Duh.
And also on airport security, are you allowed to take photos in that airport?
It’s a good question, and it did cross my mind. But I took my chances and thankfully nobody tried to arrest me on suspicion of terrorism. 🙂
